Promotion of Andalusian Bioeconomy capabilities in the Olive, Horticulture and Algal Biomass sectors.

Focused on contributing to the development of R&D&I, technology transfer and entrepreneurship in Andalusia, ATRESBIO seeks to build and consolidate value chains for obtaining bioproducts derived from by-products or biomasses from olive groves, horticulture and algae.

To this end, ATRESBIO will analyze the Andalusian research and innovation services capabilities, with the aim of identifying areas for improvement. In addition, it will draw up an action plan for the deployment of the Bioeconomy in Andalusia and will propose a medium-term technology watch system.

In this way, it aims to maximize the competitiveness and sustainability of the Andalusian industrial fabric in the area of the bioeconomy, facilitating economic growth and the generation of jobs associated with sectors of high added value for the region, such as the agri-food industry and energy.

The project is financed by the Consejería de Economía, Conocimiento, Investigación y Universidad de la Junta de Andalucía with funds from the European Union (EU) ERDF Operational Program.

Objectives:

  • To analyze and give visibility to the current capabilities in the provision of strategic R&D&I services by public and private research groups, technology centers and companies, related to the valorization of by-products.
  • Promote the coordination of available regional resources, avoiding duplication and fostering the transfer of technology and knowledge, as well as cooperation among complementary entities.
  • Collaborate in the establishment of roadmaps for the design of actions aimed at internationalizing Andalusian capabilities and strengthening the areas of improvement identified in the region in the short, medium and long term.
  • Support the positioning of Andalusia as a region of international reference in bioeconomy.
