Grants for Precompetitive Research Projects of the Cepsa Foundation Chair

The Cepsa Foundation Chair has opened its second call of the year for research grants at the University of Huelva and provides contributions of up to ten thousand euros for so-called micro research projects.

The call, which has been presented through the Vice Rectorate for Innovation and Employability, responsible for the external chairs of the University of Huelva, opens new lines of interest related to the energy transition and sciences as diverse as sociology, geography, engineering, marketing and law.

In addition to the new lines of research that Fundación Cepsa seeks to open, this call for proposals has the following novelty promote collaboration between different departments at the University of Huelva. The energy transition, according to the Cepsa Foundation, requires a holistic approach, that is, analyzing the reality as a whole, and in its chair at the University of Huelva it seeks living relationships that allow to discuss, focus and solve the problems that arise today about the future.

According to Narciso Rojas, head of Fundación Cepsa in Huelva, "to talk about energy transition, we must know the technology and human thinking, and at the same time be very aware of the citizens; we have to make an effort to know and understand what is being asked of us or we will not be able to be optimal in our decisions. To achieve this approach to the energy transition we will need experts in economics, climatology, sociology or psychology. Interactions between experts from different specialties are complex, but we are convinced that this is the way to better understand the planet in which we will live in the future, which is why we want to promote these links from the Cepsa Foundation Chair".

The future transfer of the knowledge derived from the research, as well as the dissemination of the work, are characteristics that will be valued when selecting the projects that will receive support.

One of the most outstanding characteristics of these calls for grants, according to Juan Daniel Mozo, director of the Cepsa Foundation Chair, is their prospective nature, since the idea of the project is valued more than the curriculum of the researchers. In this way, funding opportunities are offered to young researchers who are still shaping their research profile, serving as a starting point for more important research projects if the results generated are sufficiently promising.

The application for grants must be addressed to the Vice-Rectorate for Innovation and Employability, Cepsa Foundation Chair, and shall be submitted through the UHU's on-site or telematic records or any of the places provided for in art.16.4 of Law 39/2015, of October 1, of Common Administrative Procedure of Public Administrations. Applications should also be sent by e-mail to catedra.fcepsa@uhu.es.

The application period will be open from the publication of this call for applications until September 15, 2022.
