Urban environments play a decisive role in the transition to the circular economy, where public operators of the urban water cycle have a very important role, acting as true catalysts of the process through innovative and transformative proposals.
MITLOP (Integrated Model for the Management of WWTP Sludge and other Organic Waste) is a Circular Systemic Solution driven by EMASESA which, based on innovation and collaboration with various public and private agents, aims to to respond to today's challenges and contribute to the promotion of a circular and decarbonized economy in the metropolitan area of Seville.
Within the framework of the MITLOP project, EMASESA organizes the conference "WATER AND CIRCULAR ECONOMY: BUILDING THE ECOLOGICAL TRANSITION IN URBAN SPACES" to be held on October 20 in the city of Seville. with a mixed format (face-to-face and on-line with streaming), and will be held in the auditorium of the CREA Business Resource Center of the Seville City Council.

Session 2 - Accelerators for circular transformation
Legal certainty and innovation are key to the transition to a circular economy. The provision of urban water services under a circular approach requires new innovative processes/products that generate value and new market opportunities. To this end, it is essential that there be a framework to stimulate innovation and a legislative and regulatory framework compatible with the closing of the cycle (materials-energy and natural). These aspects will be presented and analyzed in the two working panels that make up this session.

Session 3 - Coupled circuits in the water sector. Vectors for circular transformation
The provision of urban water services under the circular economy approach calls for increased water efficiency, energy and product recovery in wastewater streams or reuse of reclaimed water. This requires innovative and disruptive solutions, generated through industrial hybridization with other sectors, developing new market opportunities with greater added value.
In this session, representatives from various sectors, together with urban water cycle operators, will share their experiences and analyze the current context, barriers and opportunities and their vision on the development of the circular economy.
