Andaltec, BIOLIZA and Plantas Continental join the Andalusian Bioeconomy Platform of the European project SCALE-UP

The Andaltec R&D&I Foundation (Andaltec), a technology centre dedicated to plastics and processed metals located in Martos (Jaén); BIOLIZA, a spin off of the University of Jaén (UJA) dedicated to the energy recovery of biomass; and Plantas Continental, a company dedicated to obtaining and researching rose plants for cut flowers and olive groves; have joined the Andalusian Bioeconomy Platform of the European project SCALE-UP.

This initiative, in which CTA participates, seeks to generate new bio-based solutions using the biomass resources from six European regions, including Andalusia with its olive biomass stream. To this end, it employs different ways, such as collaboration between entities. In the case of Andalusia, the platform is led by CTA and brings together companies, venture capital fund managers, academic institutions and public administration.

In addition, SCALE-UP has recently launched its Innovation Support Programme, for which the deadline for participation is 29 May. The aim is to offer a capacity building programme to help two innovative bioeconomy-based solutions from each region to enter the market. The registration form is as follows: https://bit.ly/3AUUeaG

In the case of Andaltec, in addition to joining the Andalusian Bioeconomy Platform, researchers María Dolores La Rubia and Francisco Javier Navas visited CTA’s facilities to explore synergies between SCALE-UP and LIFE Comp0live. This latest European project, led by Andaltec, aims to develop a new generation of biocomposites based on olive pruning residues for industrial applications.

How to join the Andalusian Bioeconomy Platform?

The Andalusian Bioeconomy Platform of SCALE-UP is an opportunity to generate new regional cooperation and knowledge transfer networks focused on this topic. Any public or private entity interested in exploring new solutions based on olive biomass in Andalusia can become a member.

To join, it is necessary to send an email to the following address: cta@corporaciontecnologica.com

CTA’s technical team will contact the applicant for further details and to facilitate the process.
