The SYMBIO project is financed by the Horizon Europe and it provides European regional communities with tools and methodological approaches to building bio-based business models based on circularity by-designs and industrial symbiosis. Thanks to tools for integrating big data and artificial intelligence, SYMBIO shapes 10 symbiotic business models with high-profilability sustainability replicable at the EU level to increase bio-based products on the market.

This methodology will be tested through a collaborative consortium of eight entities in twelve pilot regions, including Andalusia, selected based on the estimation of their bio-based resources defined by the availability of raw materials, socioeconomic indicators, networks and infrastructure, and development potential, among others.

The inclusive conceptualization of SYMBIO will guarantee the participation of all the agents in the supply chain, as well as the involvement of the members of the so-called quadruple helix (companies, academic institutions, society and public institutions). In order to boost local development by promoting sustainable and innovative ways towards the long-awaited and necessary green transition.

CTA activity

CTA, the only Spanish partner in the SYMBIO project, will be responsible for carrying out a technical and commercial study of the ten symbiotic business models to assess their long-term economic sustainability. In addition, during the project, the foundation will provide support in terms of communication, with a view to disseminating the results and raising awareness of the need to support this type of program.
