The technical manager of the Building and Civil Engineering sector and expert in IP, Carlos García, has participated in the Innovation Procurement Conference, organized in Brussels on March 19 and 20 under the Belgian presidency of the Council of the EU by PIO (Innovative Public Procurement Programme), the European Commission and the European Innovation Council.
The event brought together public buyers, policy makers and companies in Brussels to exchange experiences and Carlos García was able to share the preliminary conclusions of the P5 Innobroker project, highlighting the importance of investing in capacity development and more stable financial support at the local and regional level.
P5 Innobroker is a strategic project for the European Commission and financed by the COSME program, which aims to promote the launch and execution of Public Procurement of Innovation initiatives in Southern Europe due to its energizing effect on companies’ innovation and the modernization of public Administrations.
With this international conference organized during Research and Innovation Week, the Belgian Presidency of the Council of the European Union has sought to draw attention to this often underused innovation tool. It is a potentially powerful policy tool to stimulate innovation and, consequently, contributes to more efficient governments, more competitive companies and the resolution of social problems.
