The first online meeting of the Spanish Textile Circularity Hub of the European VERDEinMED project was held on 10 December. The meeting, organised by Corporación Tecnológica de Andalucía (CTA) and Consorci de la Ribera, brought together 10 national entities interested in promoting the circular economy in this sector.
The VERDEinMED project aims to promote sustainable practices along the entire textile value chain. To this end, the project will create working groups or ‘hubs’ made up of companies, researchers, politicians and associations interested in circularity. Through regular meetings, its members will seek solutions to problems such as the use of environmentally friendly production processes, textile waste management or the implementation of circularity policies, among others.
Specifically, the Spanish Textile Circularity Hub of VERDEinMED has gathered in its first meeting members of the AITEX Research and Innovation Centre, the University of Cordoba, the Valencian Federation of Municipalities and Provinces, the Valencian Institute of Business Competitiveness (IVACE), the companies Silbon, Mayoral, Texlimca and Sekond, the Circular Vision Association and the Textile Industry Confederation – TEXFOR.
Textile Knowledge Platform
In addition to looking for alternatives to reduce textile waste at national level, one of the main tasks of the VERDEinMED hubs will be to contribute content to the project’s Knowledge Platform. This web tool, which will soon be available, will integrate free resources of value for all actors wishing to establish a more eco-friendly textile sector.
The possibility of joining VERDEinMED’s Spanish Textile Circularity Hub will be available throughout the project, until its end in September 2026. Those entities that wish to join can apply by sending an email to: verdeinmed@interreg-euro-med.eu
