The European project BBioNets, an initiative funded by the Horizon Europe programme, of which Technological Corporation of Andalusia (CTA) and its member company TEPRO are partners, has launched a campaign to boost the use of biotechnology solutions in the agricultural and forestry sector. The project aims to generate six Forest and Agriculture Networks, one of them in Andalusia, to address the use of bio-based technologies and foster the progress of the bioeconomy.
For this reason, the project has launched a campaign entitled ‘Bioeconomy at a glance’, consisting of a series of articles that delve into the current biomass situation in each region, the challenges facing the biotechnology sector and the opportunities for innovation in each region. The articles, which cover the cases of Spain, Ireland, Italy, Poland and the Czech Republic, analyse aspects such as the availability of biomass, its valorisation potential and the challenges and obstacles faced by the sector.
In the case of Spain, the Andalusian Agricultural and Forestry Network is coordinated by CTA and TEPRO and has the following members: Consejería de Agricultura, Pesca, Agua y Desarrollo Rural de la Junta de Andalucía, Asociación para el Desarrollo Rural de Andalucía, IDAF, Asociación Agraria de Jóvenes Agricultores (ASAJA), Cooperativa Mancera SCA, Oleoestepa, Agroquercíneas, Fundación Agroecosistema, Viveros Orero, BIOVEGEN, Instituto de Agricultura Sostenible IAS-CSIC and Citoliva. The representatives of these entities have met on a regular basis to analyse the aspects covered in the articles.
The BBioNets campaign offers practical knowledge and insights tailored to the characteristics of each region, based on the work carried out in each regional network. More articles will be published in the coming weeks to ensure a complete picture of the bioeconomy landscape.

New campaign: exchange of ideas between regions
Building on the success of the ‘Bioeconomy Landscape’ campaign, BBioNets will soon publish a series of articles capturing the most valuable insights from its cross-regional meetings. These meetings have brought together diverse stakeholders to foster collaboration and inspire innovation in the use of technologies to drive the bioeconomy forward.
Forthcoming articles will cover the highlights of these discussions and provide practical conclusions that will enable stakeholders to drive progress in their respective sectors. In this way, the BBioNets project aims to disseminate significant developments across its network of regions.

About BBioNets
BBioNets is a thematic network that supports, promotes and advances the work carried out by the EIP-AGRI Operational Groups (OGs) regarding the management and/or processing of agricultural and forest biomass with Bio-based Technologies (BBTs). BBioNets brings together actors from the quintuple helix in six networks (Forest and Agriculture Networks or FANs) located in Spain, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Poland and the Czech Republic, which identify local BBT needs and drive them forward at regional, trans-regional and European level.
