The European project EERES4WATER aims to optimize the energy management of the integral water cycle. Corporación Tecnológica de Andalucía (CTA) leads this project in which 11 research centers and technology companies from five Atlantic countries (Spain, Portugal, France, United Kingdom and Ireland) also participate.
Through the involvement of the public administration, universities, research centers, SMEs and business associations of the participating regions, this Atlantic cooperation project aims to implement technological innovations and articulate common policies -at institutional, technical and social levels- to increase energy efficiency and the use of renewable sources in processes and resources related to the integral water cycle.
EERES4WATER has a budget of 3.1 million euros, of which 2.3 million are financed by the European Union through the Interreg Atlantic Area Program, which supports transnational cooperation projects in 36 Atlantic regions for their development and sustainable growth. These regions share similar problems with respect to the high water-energy interdependence, which requires a specific policy framework, aligned with European directives, and joint actions in technological advances.
