The European finMED project aims to boost the financing of innovation in sectors linked to ‘green growth‘, i.e. sustainable or environmentally friendly, in the Mediterranean region.
The project has a budget of €4.3 million, 85% of which is financed by the European Regional Development Fund under the European Union (EU) Interreg-Med transnational cooperation program (€3.65 million), and has a duration of 4 years. It is led by Regione Piemonte and will be developed by a consortium composed of a total of 15 partners from 9 European countries (Italy, Greece, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Portugal, Cyprus, Slovenia, France, Malta and Spain).
The finMED project expects to achieve concrete results in three areas:
- Proposal of public policies, developing and adopting new concepts, principles and practices to finance green growth strategies;
- Boost innovation in the business environment, improving interaction and collaboration (at regional and transnational level) among the stakeholders involved and bridging the gap between companies and funders;
- Stimulate the capacities of green (environmentally sustainable) sectors, actively promoting and supporting their adaptation to new financing challenges.
