Improving the competitiveness of the forestry sector

The supra-autonomic task force for the application of blockchain to the timber supply chain, ChainWood project, which brings together the capabilities of the timber and forestry sector with companies and technology centers to develop a sector-wide solution, open to all stakeholders, that will contribute to improving the competitiveness of the forestry sector through the application of new technologies.

The objective of the ChainWood project is to design and develop a secure software infrastructure based on blockchain technologies and the Internet of things, tailored to all wood supply chains (solid wood, disintegration, pulp and biomass), enabling the various stakeholders (owners, associations, logging companies, transporters, certifiers, public administration and processors) to make the most of their data and manage the product in a more efficient way in terms of cost, traceability and sustainability.

Financing

Project financed by FEADER funds of the European Union and by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food through the Directorate General of Rural Development, Innovation and Forestry Policy of the Government of Spain (General State Management Agency, AGE).
