The European project DIGITbrain has just launched its second call to finance seven new cases of industrial use based on digital twins, which consists of a virtual replica of products industries, services and/or processes to optimize their management. The call will be open from February 28th to May 31st, 2022.
The call is mainly aimed at manufacturing SMEs in collaboration with software and technology providers, with vouchers up to 97,800€ per project and 60,000€ per partner.
PNO Innovation, Technological Corporation of Andalusia (CTA), the Technological Institute of Aragon (ITAINNOVA), ENIDE Solutions and Inyecciones Montañana are the Spanish entities that participate in this project, out of a total of 36 European partners.
What do the experiments consist of?
The goal of the experiments is to implement specific use cases based on digital twins. The experiments can cover all segments of the manufacturing industry, such as discrete manufacturing, continuous production, or construction. There are many options to use digital twin technology in the optimization of business processes in the manufacturing sector, such as supply chain management, predictive maintenance or improving the customer experience.
By collecting real-time data from production lines, a digital twin allows for testing scenarios in the virtual world, before applying adjustments to its physical counterpart. Thereby they will allow for a deeper understanding of the business processes and enable better decision making as well as more agile and flexible reactions to fast-changing customer demands or business conditions.
