CTA organises a workshop to present the European project AeRoTwin and promote aerial robotics excellence at the ADM of Seville

CTA has organised a workshop to present the European project AeRoTwin and promote aerial robotics excellence at the Aerospace & Defense Meetings (ADM) of Seville, carried out on a hybrid format on the 26th and 27th of May.  

The AeRoTwin project, where CTA is partner, has established a stable cooperation between the University of Zagreb and the technological leaders of the consortium to promote good practices in research and knowledge transfer.

This workshop was moderated by the Aerospace and Production Technical Officer of CTA, Silvia de los Santos, and included the presentations of the Professor of the Laboratory for Robotics and Intelligent Control Systems (LARICS) of the University of Zagreb, Stjepan Bogdan; the Professor of the Aerial Robotics Lab of the Imperial College LondonMirko Kovac; and the professor and chair of the GRVC of the University of Seville and scientific adviser of CATEC, Aníbal Ollero.

The speakers focused their presentations on success cases of unmanned aerial technology systems demonstrations in industrial environments like autonomous inspection of wind turbine blades, artificial intelligence for infrastructure drones and aerial robots for inspection and logistics.

The European project AeRoTwin is funded by the Horizon 2020 programme of the European Union (EU).

Andalusia, international aeronautical centre

The Aerospace and Production Technical Officer of CTA, Silvia de los Santos, has also moderated the round table “Andalusia, international aeronautical centre” organised by the association Ellas Vuelan Alto (EVA), whose main goal is to promote equality in the aerospace sector.

The main topic of this table was how and why should Andalusia retain its leadership position in the aerospace industry. But, also, the participants made an analysis on the current situation of this industry and its international relevance, as well as the new Defense opportunities and the Next Generation EU funding possibilities.

The opening was made by the Excecutive Director of AESA and Vicepresident of EVA,  Isabel Maestre. Other participants were the Flight Test of Airbus, María Prieto, the Business Development Director of Andalusia Aerospace Business Cluster, Mélanie Durth, the Strategy and Programmes coordinator of Agencia IDEA, Carmen Sillero and the Director General of Sustainable Development, Funding and External Action of Seville City Hall, Esperanza Caro.
