The Vice President of the Regional Government of Andalusia and Minister of Tourism, Regeneration, Justice and Local Administration, Juan Marín, has said that “tourism and new technologies can beat the virus, although we have to overcome fear with all the tools that we have available”.
Marín has presented this idea in a digital event organised by Technological Corporation of Andalusia (CTA). More than 150 people attended the event that was presented by the Minister of Economy, Knowledge, Business and University, Rogelio Velasco, and the CTA president, Adelaida de la Calle, who explained the CTA Tourism Challenge #PostCOVID19. This challenge will reward a technological project that helps the sector recover.
The Minister of Tourism sees the future of the sector with optimism and believes that the Andalusia destination is going to reactivate with great force. “If we convince ourselves that we are in a moment of opportunity, we will advance much faster thanks to new technologies”, said.
The Andalusia VP highlighted the strength of the tourism sector since it faces challenges permanently. “We were clear that we had to move forward and reflect on a new model through the knowledge society, and the virus has accelerated that process”. Marín has related some of the initiatives and proposals that the Andalusian Government has launched to reactivate the sector once activity resumes and markets and borders are reopened, such as the Shock Plan that will mobilize more than 300 million to help companies and maintain employment in the sector, the €17 million for communication and promotion campaigns in Andalusia.
