CTA participates in EXCornsEED Project Conference in Bucharest

The CTA Business Development Manager, David Páez, and the Consultant María Nieto have participated today in the Conference on the Valorisation of proteins and bio-active compounds from biorefinery side-streams, organised by the European EXCornsEED project in Bucharest, Romania.

The consultant María Nieto has presented the CTA business innovation support model, as well as the European projects related to the Bioeconomy in which CTA participates as a partner: ICT-BIOCHAIN and UrBIOfuture.

In addition, CTA has participated in the EXCornsEED project coordination meeting to learn about the proejct progress and the work plans for the coming months. Led by the University of Rome Sapienza, the project has 13 partners from 8 European countries (Italy, Slovakia, Romania, Spain, Belgium, Switzerland, Germany and the Netherlands), including CTA.

The European EXCornsEED project has a budget of 7.2 million euros to develop sustainable technologies that allow obtaining functional ingredients for food, chemical and cosmetic products from the secondary effluents of corn, bioethanol and biodiesel biorefineries. It lasts three and a half years and is co-financed by the Bio-Based Industries Joint Undertaking (BBI-JU) under the European Union H2020 programme.

CTA coordinates the sustainability advisory work package, leading the tasks of techno-economic and regulatory advice, as well as the entire area of standardisation.
