CTA participates in a review meeting of EU ICT-BIOCHAIN project in Brussels

The Biotechnology technical officer of CTA, Gloria de la Viña, and the consultant María Nieto have participated in the annual review meeting of the European ICT-Biochain project in Brussels. The meeting was attended by Bioeconomy experts of the Bio-based Industry Joint Undertaking (BBI-JU), an entity that finances this European project within the framework of the Horizon 2020 innovation and research programme.

BBI-JU experts have known the project progress and have offered some recommendations to the work package leaders for the coming months.

CTA participates as a partner in this European project to develop Digital Innovation Hubs for the application of ICT, IoT and Industry 4.0 to the biomass supply chain in Andalusia and Southeast Ireland. The project is led by the Regional Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Sustainable Development of the Andalusian Government.

The Andalusian Digital Innovation Hub ICT-BIOCHAIN was launched in July 2019 in Seville, achieving a remarkable success of participation. More than 50 entities, including SMEs and research groups of Andalusian universities, met at the Andalusian Confederation of Entrepreneurs (CEA) for its official launch.

This Andalusian Hub will provide SMEs with expert knowledge and innovative technologies for the digitalisation of the biomass supply chain, which will contribute to a sustainable supply at competitive prices and the development of the Andalusian Bioeconomy.
