Corporación Tecnológica de Andalucía (CTA) has just joined the Climate Technology Center and Network (CTCN), the network of the United Nations (UN) to accelerate the implementation of climate technologies, oriented to combat climate change, in developing countries.

CTCN brings together more than 440 members from all over the world, including academic, financial, non-governmental and research entities, both from the private and public sectors. Its mission is to stimulate technological cooperation and facilitate the development and transfer of technology related to the climate in developing countries. To this end, it attends consultations of these countries, encourages collaboration to accelerate the transfer of climate technology and reinforces networks and collaboration agreements in this field. The Centre is the operational arm of the UNFCCC Technology Mechanism, it is hosted and managed by the United Nations Environment and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO).

The incorporation of CTA to CTCN is part of the international growth strategy of this foundation, especially in the area related to International Finantial Institutions (IFI), which involves more than 120,000 million euros per year related to the promotion of economic progress in developing countries and emerging economies. CTA won last year its first multilateral tender in Peru for a project financed by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB). Membership of CTCN provides CTA with access to a broad global network of users, suppliers and financial entities of technologies against climate change under the umbrella of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UCCM). In Spain, there are 27 partners of CTCN and CTA is the only one from Andalusia.

Based in Copenhagen (Denmark), CTCN is a United Nations network that promotes the rapid adoption of relevant climate technologies at the request of developing countries that aim to be energy efficient, promote low carbon emissions and achieve a resilient climate development. Through its network, the CTCN mobilizes the policy and technical expertise of the Academy, civil society, finance and private sectors to facilitate technological solutions, boost capacities and offer implementation advice to developing countries.
