CTA participates in a workshop of the European P5 Innobroker project on PPI in Greece
  • The P5 Innobroker project holds a workshop in Thessaloniki to promote good PPI practices in the procurement of innovative goods and services by the public sector with the practical case of recycling coffee grounds.

CTA (Technological Corporation of Andalusia) has participated in the consortium meeting of the European P5 Innobroker project in Thessaloniki (Greece), as well as in a training workshop to promote Public Procurement of Innovation (PPI) among Greek entities.

The CPI expert and head of the P5 Innobroker project at CTA, Carlos García, the CTA consultant Rafael Castillo, and the head of Content and Media at CTA, Beatriz Colado, participated in the meeting.

During the consortium meeting, the cases of Public Procurement of Innovation processes that the P5 Innobroker project is advising on in each of the European regions of the partners participating in the project were reviewed and the communication and dissemination tasks of the project were analyzed.

The training workshop “How to hire innovation?” brought together key Greek actors, project managers, policymakers and researchers to explore the opportunities, challenges and best practices associated with the procurement of innovative goods, services and works in the public sector.

Specifically, the practical case of recycling coffee grounds was chosen, a waste that by regulations must be treated in Greece. Thus, possible innovative solutions were presented for the recovery of bioactive compounds from coffee grounds in pilot-scale extractions, the valorization of coffee grounds for the production of new raw materials for food and cosmetic matrices and for the isolation and use of phenolic substances. from coffee grounds for use in food and cosmetics.

P5 Innobroker, revitalization of the PPI in the South of Europe

P5 Innobroker is a strategic project for the European Commission and financed by the COSME program, which aims to promote the launch and execution of Public Procurement of Innovation initiatives due to their energizing effect on the private sector and the modernization of Public Administrations.

CTA leads this European project in which five other European entities also participate: the Ea Ecoentreprises cluster (France), the Hellas Technology Center of Thessaloniki (Greece), the Slovenian Chamber of Commerce, the Larnaca Regional Development Agency and Famagusta ( Cyprus) and the Sarajevo Regional Development Agency (Bosnia and Herzegovina).

In its three years of execution, P5 Innobroker is analyzing the viability of new business models based on support services for the preparation and execution of CPI initiatives, both for public administrations and bidding entities. Likewise, the project plans to train and energize the public sector so that it can significantly increase the contracting of innovative technologies, products and solutions, while supporting the start-up and expansion of technology-based companies that can compete in the tenders.

The P5 Innobroker project is co-financed by the COSME program of the European Union.
