CTA (Technological Corporation of Andalusia) participates in the SOLLAGUA project, an innovative initiative funded by the European Interreg SUDOE program aimed at promoting nature-based solutions (NbS) for water reuse in rural areas with limited access periods and low natural flows, as is the case in some parts of Andalusia.
The SOLLAGUA project, which will last three years, is driven by a consortium of ten entities from Spain, France, and Portugal. All of them will cooperate to provide a more resilient water supply in areas with a high degree of water stress and, in turn, promote the development of a circular economy based on the reuse of local wastewater, while providing an alternative to traditional end-of-pipe installations.
The SOLLAGUA action plan includes, among other things, the installation of three demonstrators in the selected areas of the participating countries to highlight the advantages of the SBN system. Moreover, the strategy to align with the project’s objectives will allow determining the appropriate level of water treatment based on actual needs. The initiative will actively involve administrations, universities, companies, and users.
CTA role
Carlos García, sectorial technical manager of Building and Civil Works at CTA, and María García and Rafael Castillo, Innovation consultants at CTA, participated in the project launch meeting in Toulouse. The role of the foundation in SOLLAGUA is to direct the communication and dissemination strategy of the initiative and identify the actors likely to replicate its results.
